27.06. the foundation meeting of the
non-profit organisation MTÜ Kakora took place.
15.08. MTÜ Kakora was registered/entered
into the registry.
The project ”Unique Tactile Books for
Disabled Children” (October 2006 - October 2007), which was supported by the
Gambling Tax Board/the Ministry of Education and Research resulted in the
creation of three unique tactile books: two books based on folk stories titled
The Wolf and Ice-Fishing and The Fox Goes Fishing and a fairytale
book titled Little Red Riding Hood. Read more on

19.10. tactile books were presented in
Pärnu at a reader’s conference organised by the Estonian Library for the Blind.
27.10. the general meeting of MTÜ Kakora
took place.
2007
March: a competition the aim of which
was to encourage people to make tactile books in Estonia was announced in order
to receive new books that could be sent to the competition that was to be
organised in Dijon, France at the end of the year.
27.04-28.04. tactile books were
presented in Haapsalu during the children’s literature days organised at the
Central Library of Lääne County.
04.05. tactile books were presented at
the Tartu Toy Museum.
05.05. tactile books were presented at
the hall of the South Estonian Association of the Blind.
07.05. the seminar titled ”The Pilot
Days of Audio description” was held at the Tallinn University.
08.05. ”The Pilot Days of Audio
description” at the Tartu Toy Museum.
06.06.-09.06. Kadi Sarapuu participated
at the meeting of the T&T lead group in Erfurt, Germany in order for us to be
able to take part in tactile book competitions in France in the future.
19.07. tactile books were presented at
the Lustjala playland in Kuressaare.
01.07-31.12 another three tactile books
were made on the order of the Estonian Library for the Blind and with the help
of the financial support received from the Gambling Tax Board/the Ministry of
Culture and the Estonian Library for the Blind. Peter the Potato and
Autumn introduced nature to children and Teeth Brothers was a book
written in verse form.
30.09. The Estonian jury assessed and
selected the tactile books to be sent to Dijon, France at the hall of the North
Estonian Association of the Blind.
-.10. we participated at the conference
titled “Making Cultural Heritage Truly Inclusive. Prospects of Accessibility in
Nordic Museums” organised in Helsinki.
16.10. the opening of textile artist
Jenni-Juulia Wallinheimo’s exhibition titled ”Pretty Cripple” and the
presentation of the first exhibition accompanied by descriptive interpretation
at the Activity Centre for the Disabled located at Endla 59, Tallinn. An
overview of the exhibition was broadcast by the Estonian Television (ETV) in the
programme “Puutepunkt” aired on 25.11.
06.11-10.11 participating as jury
members at the T&T competition held in Dijon, France.
12.11. participating at the seminar
titled ”Kuvailutulkkaus kulttuurilaitoksiin!”. The seminar was meant for the
cultural heads of cultural establishments.
2008
22.02. the presentation of tactile
books, the shooting of ETV’s programme “Puutepunkt”.
“Puutepunkt” was aired on 30.03. and
“Bionina” on 17.03.
26.2. tactile books were presented at
the Emajõe School in Tartu.
29.2. the T&T special prize was handed
over to Liis Raudsepp in Tallinn at the concert-ceremony of the North Estonian
Association of the Blind dedicated to the 90th anniversary of the Republic of
Estonia.
22.03. tactile books were presented at
the library of Kärdla on the island of Hiiumaa.
24.03. the annual meeting of MTÜ Kakora
took place.
25.03.-11.04. the exhibition titled
”Pretty Cripple” and the presentation of the exhibition accompanied by audio
description at the Y Gallery in Tartu.
28.8. tactile books were presented on
TV3’s programme “Tähetund”. The programme was aired on 05.09.
19.09-21.09. international courses in
pottery for the visually impaired took place in Helsinki.
03.10. participating at the seminar
titled, ”25 years of Tactile Books in Finland” organised in Helsinki.
21.10. tactile books were presented at
the Helen’s School in Tallinn.
22.10. the meeting of MTÜ Kakora in
order to amend the articles of association took place.
01.12-15.12 an exhibition titled
“SINASÖPRUS-SINUNKAUPAT featuring the pottery made during the weekend was held.
2009
04.01. participating at the events of
Louis Braille, the creator of the Braille script at the Viru Keskus shopping
centre in Tallinn and at the Tasku shopping centre in Tartu.
05.01-31.01. the exhibition titled
“SINASÖPRUS-SINUNKAUPAT” was held in Tallinn
25.02-31.03. the exhibition titled
“SINASÖPRUS-SINUNKAUPAT” was held in Tartu.
11.03. the opening of the exhibition
titled ”The Animal Collective” and the audio description of the exhibition at
the Tallinn Art Hall. TV3 broadcasted an overview of the event on a programme
aired on 12.03.
13.04-21.05. the exhibition titled
“SINASÖPRUS-SINUNKAUPAT” was held in Pärnu.
18.05. a seminar for guides titled ”The
accessibility of Culture for Everyone” was organised in cooperation with KUMU.

14 Oct 2009: The theatre troupe of the Finnish association for the promotion of culture among visually impaired people kicked off an Estonia tour, by performing a play about the life of Louis Braille in Tartu and in Viljandi (in the evening of the same day).
15 Oct 2009: the Finnish troupe gave two performances in Tallinn, performing the play about the life of Louis Braille.
The same day, a walk in the city took place, called “In Tallinn with a White Cane”.
At noon, the events dedicated to the 200th anniversary of Louis Braille ended with a gala at the Estonian Health-Care Museum where awards were presented to the participants in the “Six Points” essay competition. MTÜ Kakora presented all award winners with books that have won the Tactus competition.
16 Oct to 13 Nov 2009: “Muutumine – Muutos” art exhibition by two visually impaired artists from Finland (Maarit Hedman and Ismo Tilanto), at the Tallinn community centre for people with disabilities.
18 Nov 2009: presentation of tactile books at boarding school no. 1.
4 Dec 2009 to 31 Jan 2010: “Muutumine – Muutos” art exhibition at the Kondas Centre in Viljandi.
18 Dec 2009: presentation of tactile books at the Viljandi Culture Academy of the University of Tartu.

19 Feb to 6 March 2010: “Muutumine – Muutos” art exhibition at Loov gallery in Tartu.
4 April 2010: annual meeting of MTÜ Kakora
18 May 2010: premiere of the first-ever play in Estonia that offers descriptive translation (“Three Men in a Boat” at Ugala theatre in Viljandi). The descriptive translation was done by freelance actor Mart Aas.
5 June 2010: finger painting course in Tallinn for visually impaired people, supervised by Maarit Hedman, a visually impaired artist from Finland.
